Nikah invitation wording in English, Urdu and Hindi

5 min read · Updated 28 October 2026

A Nikah invitation usually opens with Bismillah, names the couple and their parents, and gives timings for the Nikah and, often separately, the Walima hosted by the groom's family. The wording tends to be graceful and formal, with a dua for the couple.

What to include

  • Bismillah at the top, in Arabic script or as 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful'.
  • The couple's names and their parents' names.
  • The Nikah date and time (often after a particular namaz), and the venue.
  • The Walima details, noting which family hosts it.
  • Any separate arrangements, such as separate seating or timings for men and women.
